More than 100 projects have come across Dr. Seri Lee's desk in his career, claming to solve one of the technology industry's most pressing problems: How to keep an increasing number of ever-smaller gadgets from overheating while making them more energy efficient and longer lasting.

Of those, only six may have been feasible, Lee said, and just one brought him to Hawaii.

He flew to Oahu from North Carolina with his wife last spring at the request of Pipeline Micro, a startup that had been located in several offices at the Manoa Innovation Center before moving this month to the second floor of the IBM building near Ward Centers.

Pipeline Micro, Inc., developer of the world’s smallest and most efficient liquid cooling systems for electronics, has named Dr. Seri Lee as its Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Lee is a world-class innovator in the field of thermal management systems. Prior to joining Pipeline Micro, he spent nearly ten years with Intel Corporation as its senior thermal scientist in its silicon and platform solutions group.

At Pipeline Micro, Dr. Lee will focus on the further development of the company’s patented micro scale liquid cooling systems, which the company is applying to a broad range of semiconductor applications in alternative energy and consumer electronics applications including photovoltaic systems, LED lighting, graphics cards for computers, laptop computers, game boxes, cell phones, and various home appliances.
